Wednesday February 2, 2011 / 2:00pm (Preview)Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark
How was your experience?
On this crazy weather day I took myself to see Spider Man and it was lots of fun! I was in the first row of the flying circle, which was perfect. You don't want to be in the very center of the row - better toward either side of the center row. Julie Traymor is one imaginatively creative woman. I just had to see it and am glad that I did! It certainly brightened this day!! However a note of caution: I received a note from someone thinking of taking a 3 1/2 year old and felt I should write quickly to to that I think that 3 1/2 is too young. I would be concerned about nightmares until 7 or older.10 years best, 9 or 8 probably OK. It is long and there are scary monsters, one of whom flies. Also, boring to little ones are love songs and less action-packed scenes. Sitting behind me was a 3 year old who sat on his mom's lap and couldn't stop asking questions and just talking in general. He and his mom left at intermission. The 6 year old in the next seat 2 over behind me kicked the seat all through the second act. Just too long and incomprehensible for her. Her sisters, 8 and 9 sat still and quietly.
