How was your experience?
The producers of this event were either shamefully unprepared for the crowd or else decided to make everyone from GOLDSTAR wait on the sidewalk until those who paid full price were seated... after nearly an hour standing outside to exchange my voucher for a ticket, I was just waved in. The venue was a pleasant surprise, I had an excellent view from the last row downstairs. The opening acts, indy rock bands performing George Harrison's songs, were a mixed bag. It started out promisingly but the bands got louder and less melodic, and the song choices more obscure as the evening progressed (exception: a terrific jazz guitarist, Lou Volpe). While there was some interest shown by the crowd, the majority of the audience were older folks like me, Roberta Flack fans who patiently waited three hours for their idol to appear. It was worth the wait, Ms. Flack was in good voice and her renditions of Beatles' songs were terrific, she performed for half an hour.
