How was your experience?
Although the volunteers from the Natural History Museum were pleasant, the real star is the ship's captain, who was not only very informative, but made a great effort to ensure we had the best experience possible. Because it is such a long distance between changing scenery, I'm not certain that kids/teens would enjoy it as much as we did. Be prepared to be in the sun (as there is very little shaded/below deck space) and bring layers of clothing (for shifting temperatures and rain/mist), your own food and beverages (if you are particular) and Dramamine (as the ship sways and rolls with the swells). We will definitely go again, perhaps even on the "over-night" excursion.
