Saturday May 7, 2011 / NoonCraft Beer Tasting Aboard the Clipper City Tall Ship
South Street and Beekman Street
New York City, NY 10038
How was your experience?
Upon walking the plank on to the gorgeous sailboat we were greeted with huge hello's and goodmornings by the crew! The boat was just stunning, in such incredible condition and the staff were extremely welcoming. One of the staff introduced everyone and let us know what the trip was going to be for the next hour and 45 minutes! We set sail and got an incredible view of the statue of liberty, city skyline, brooklyn bridge- just incredible! Now on to the good stuff- the beer! Kelso was the beer on tap and we were lucky enough to have the actual Owner of the company join us for the trip, along with his wife and two kids. He was very friendly and open to answering any questions or just shooting the sh*t about his beer and local bars that serve his beer as well as other local brews. We had 5 beers to taste along with a solid history of why the beer exists, why it tastes the way it does etc... the host was very informative and adorable! Overall incredible experience! I would suggest selecting the first tour of the day when doing the Craft tasting because we only had 41 guests, as opposed to 135 (the amt of tix they sell) so there was LOTS of beer leftover and we were able to get 3rd or 4th's of the flavors we really enjoyed! Oh, and the cheese selection was INCREDIBLE! *did this trip as a birthday present to my husband. We are from Brooklyn and felt like we were doing an 'excursion' like when vacationing, but yet in the comfort of our own city- such a blast and great bday gift for the avid beer lover!
