Tuesday May 10, 2011 / 7:30pm (Opening Night)9 to 5: The Musical
Tier 1 (Rear)
How was your experience?
If you are looking for a light hearted and very entertaining evening, this performance fits the bill perfectly. None of the songs other than 9 to 5 are very memorable, but they are pleasant and fit the show. Diana Degarmo (Doralee) gave an excellent performance, and supporting cast was strong although the performance of role of Violet was a bit weak. This theater has always had a problem getting the balance of sound right between singers and accompaniment, with the singers frequently being swallowed up by the band or orchestra. This show was no exception and as a result, I have no idea what some of the songs were about and the audience missed out on some key dialogue. The seats in the back of Tier 1 were very good, being right in the middle of the row. Sight lines are a concern in this theater, but the view was great. There were a lot of open seats in this area, so if you didn't like where you were seated, there were plenty of places to move.
