South End Ave and Liberty St.
New York City, NY 10280
How was your experience?
The Shearwater is an authentic, original schooner built in 1929 and always a pleasure to sail on: relaxed, expert crew and if you sit by the helm, in a sunken seating area with a backrest, you don't have to worry about the boom. No narration, no music, just the breeze in the sails. The 4 wines served this time were all excellent choices for people like me who prefer dry reds and whites. Attentive service, cold water and wine brought to you as you need to hold onto something to move around the boat. I wish there had been a printed list of the wines, the best the sommelier could do was offer a card, she said the wines are listed on her site. Snacks of cheese, crackers and grapes were minimal but adequate. The crew will converse but were gratifyingly unobtrusive and left me and my date to converse--a great event for a first meeting!
