How was your experience?
I had previously enjoyed the Marketplace tour with this company and expected the dinner tour would be just as good. Unfortunately my expectations were not met. First of all, let me say I really enjoyed the hostess Jill. She is a sweetheart and does a great job with what she has to work with. The first stop was the Local 386. We had oysters and green beans. Yuck. Jill asked for a substitutuion for several of us non-oyster lovers and we recieved deviled eggs. They were ok. We had a Brazilian cocktail made by a mixologist who did an awesome job. This guy wins best of the tour, and this is coming from someone who is a very infrequent drinker, so you can believe it was good. We had 2 pieces of sushi that were good, but I'm sorry, this restaurant needs to offer soy sauce and wasabi. Not everyone can enjoy sushi without it. Then we went to an Italian place where the owner really wanted to hang out with us. We were served our 12-15 pasta tubes in a bowl and at this point I was ravenous. Everyone sat there politely not touching their meal until he was finished talking-not an easy feat on 2 pieces of sushi and a deviled egg. As the food got cold from sitting outside on the patio while he spoke, I was tempted to start eating anyway but resisted the urge. Nice guy, but he needs to think about the comfort and hunger of his guests! Now again, the food was delicious here but this is where the tour really misses the mark. Had the portion been double the small scoop given, I would have been satisfied. This was a really light dinner from beginning to end so have a realistic expectation and you will not find yourself hungry at the end. Dessert was ok. Good job to Jill- lackluster job to organizer. Sorry.
