How was your experience?
This was a pleasant cruise with my wife and two young relatives. Having an air-conditioned lower cabin to escape for the 95+° heat was terrific,and being able to see the shore and, eventually, some of the monuments from the open upper deck was what we came for. Tree lines limit what you can see, but we expected that. I am hearing impaired and was unable to hear whether the PA system provided any tour guidance about what to look for and where, but a lot of folks on the boat seemed more interested in chatting up the other guests or peering into the phones (Leave your phones behind for a fuller experience!). Our cruise lasted 90 minutes, which was longer than we expected, and seemed to cover two circuits, ending at one end in the open water near the airport and Hains Point and at the other, near the Kennedy Center, lovely with its night lighting. We were disappointed that the parking lot didn't open until 20-25 minutes before departure and cost $10 per car when it did. We arrived very early and were able to park at a meter down near Phillips Restaurant and walk 200 yards back to the marina. The entrance, by the way, is very easy to miss and getting back to it is troublesome (Thank the GPS for good rerouting). This is a very casual tour company. There is no redemption of the Goldstar coupon. They simply take your coupon as you enter the lot. On the other hand, we had paid for six and one of our party was unable to attend. Although I mentioned it to the young man who collected our coupon, and he said that they "would make a note of it" we were offered no refund, so the deal wasn't quite as sweet as we might have liked. The posted refund policy on the web site is clear that we should have been offered credit on a future cruise, and we were not
