How was your experience?
I know this play was nominated for some awards, but I'm sorry. The primary source of humor in the play is making fun of the lack of knowledge of the characters. This is, to me, a cheap shot, since it is easy to do, and people will be doing it about our beliefs and medicine in 50 years. It was at the level of at a Saturday Night Live skit, rather than truly examining the serious situation about beliefs about women's hysteria and how to treat it. The problem is not that it was funny rather than morbid -- rather that the humor is juvenile cheap shots about women feeling better after vibrator induced orgasms.
