How was your experience?
We loved it. It was for our Anniversary trip to San Diego, a Saturday night, October 1. We had planned to dress up to go out in Gaslamp afterward (it's walking distance), but did not have time to return to the timeshare and change after our daylong activities (poor planning on our part). We had been using the local $5/day unlimited train service to move around San Diego. We arrived 20-minutes prior to disembarking. We were in typical nice-beach attire - Rainbows (thongs), khakis, polo and nice t-shirt. All was well, there were people dressed up and dressed casually. We were afraid we would need sweaters, but the weather is still nice this time of year and even after the sun set, different parts of the boat were warmer or cooler accommodating all sorts of blood-types. The crew was extremely friendly. You can explore all areas of the boat, including the bridge where the captain commands the boat. There are three rounds of food. The crew comes around with finger foods. The appetizer bar is also available, with a theme for every month. The appetizer bar was heartier than expected. Oktoberfest theme had a cheesy pasta dish with sausage, sauerkraut salad, pretzels, etc. The crew comes around again, towards the end, with the last round ~ petite desserts. Also, cash/credit bar is open for anyone wanting drinks. After a filling lunch and the food on the boat, we didn't need to go to dinner. The views are spectacular and the cruise tends to be more on the romantic side, since there is music instead of information about the bay and harbor. Really easy going and fun. The makeup of people were couples, a group of business people, groups of women out on the town, and families with kids having fun running around. Also, want to comment on Goldstar's preview power. It was key to booking this event. I was able to view options for our anniversary weekend up to two months in advance. Although I would have loved to book something at that time, I also knew we may have to cancel at the last minute due to my husband's currently changing schedule. But because I was able to see options so far in advance, the morning of our anniversary weekend, I remembered what events were options for that evening, went on Goldstar to purchase the tickets that same morning and we were able to retrieve them at will-call without any hassles. Everything was smooth as butter. I will be using Goldstar in the future for their prices as well as the ability to forecast entertainment options in advance and on the fly. Thanks Goldstar!
