Tuesday January 17, 2012 / 8:00pmBilly Elliot: The Musical
How was your experience?
This is a great new, heavy, musical about acceptance between diverse sub-cultures within England, coal miners and classical dancers. It is about Billy Elliot's family reborn through his dance. The show villanizes Thatcher-era leadership regarding union strikers, scabs and police clashes. Homophobia is explored. That being said, the show is high entertainment as well. Great choreography and dancing, athletic and wickedly clever. Ground breaking new music from Sir Elton John. Wonderful stagecraft, staging and costumes. Large special-effects. A show of social substance. The next morning you wake up thinking about the show and how your life reflects it.
