How was your experience?
Although we purchased this ticket months ago, Arena gave us a back-row seat. And while I usually have no trouble hearing dialogue in theaters, I did have a lot of trouble following the dialogue here (as well as some of the song lyrics.) I think the pace was quite fast, and the enunciation not as clear as it could have been. Unlike my husband, who knows this play by heart, it was my first time seeing The Music Man. The play is somewhat dated, and the ending a bit unrealistic. All that being said, Arena had incredibly high productions standards, as always: the dancing was phenomenal, the singing exceptional. The child actors were also out of this world. The adult actors did the best they could with a 1950s play. In all fairness, 95 percent of the audience gave them a standing ovation, but I was one of the few who remained seated, for the reasons stated above.
