WONDERFUL version of a timeless classic! The cast was wonderful, and Klea Blackhurst made Ethel, Bette, Bernadette, Patti, and Babs proud, in her portrayal of Mama Rose. Matthew Crowle also needs to be singled out for amazing dance/tap skills, that rivaled any of what you've seen on "So You Think You Can Dance!" My girls and I loved this show. The story is PG-13, and they did a wonderful job keeping it extremely tasteful, and not going "sleazy" with it (which would've been easy to do.) The first act is actually very G-rated. I took younger kids, (4th graders) who are active in musical theater and knew the story and every song, and I felt it was fine for them. Probably wouldn't be appropriate for non-theater kids, or any that didn't already know the story of Gypsy Rose Lee. (Google her before you make that decision as a parent.) Overall, LOOOVED this show, and was extremely impressed with the production as a whole. Drury Lane is very quickly becoming my favorite theater venue in Chicagoland.
