How was your experience?
My daughter has been an avid Hitchcock fan since an early age, but only since moving to L.A. has she had the chance to see his films on the big screen. So, when an e-mail from Goldstar announced The Birds would be screened w Tippi Hedren in attendance, we were delighted to get tickets. We'd never been to The Alex, but after attending this, found it well worth the drive and now wish to join their film society - so impressed by the beautiful theatre, courteous staff and well planned program. They started with a classic Looney Tunes cartoon featuring, appropriately, Tweety Bird. The interview with Tippi Hedren was very interesting, gracious yet candid, recounting her experiences making this film (which began her career), and telling of the inspiring work at her Shambala animal preserve and pending legislation to prevent people from breeding wild cats to live in captivity. Another nice touch was an appearance in the audience by one of the child actors in the film, Jeanne Russell (also played Margaret in Dennis the Menace) who provided anecdotes from her perspective. On top of all that, we certainly enjoyed the film -- esp seeing a nice print on a lovely screen, with a very involved audience. .
