How was your experience?
"Peter Pan" is an enthralling event for the audience. Cathy Rigby is astounding as Peter Pan because of her athleticism, energy, and buoyancy. She is not a young woman anymore, but her performance belies that fact. I am in awe! The play was full of good humor, showmanship, and beautifully crafted dancing and singing. That said, I was concerned about a couple of things. Disney movies portray violence for the sake of laughs. (Witness "Beauty and the Beast.") Anyway, was it necessary to show a pirate cuffing John a couple of times, or to have Peter Pan vulgarly spitting on John? There was actually an audible gasp when John was struck. Children are exposed to violence in the media, and it seemed superfluous and unnecessary for this classic children's tale. All in all, though, "Peter Pan" is well done!!!
