How was your experience?
FISHING WAS GREAT HERE! The organization however, not so. I booked reservations with this group about a week in advance. My friends and I arrive at the location and wait in long line, which I understand because everyone is getting signed up for the excursion. However, once it was my turn the Newport Landing didn't have my GOLDSTAR reservations listed. The worker then looked through 2 or 3 different lists and none of them had any GOLDSTAR tickets listed. Then she had to call their "sister" company up the pier to check to see if they had space for us. I almost became irate because we just drove 50mins leaving at 5am in the morning to get there on time, and now there was a chance that they we're able to fit us on their boat!! Luckily their sister boat had space.... very limited space. We got on the other boat without a problem but were barely able to find spots for us. I got spots next to the women's "head" (washroom) which clogged, so at one point one of the ship hands said watch out for feces. Thank god there wasn't any. Good trip. A few scares. I would go again only because we caught fish with them. We were never able to catch anything with the company over in Dana Point. Be ware of parking also, I parked in the lot where I got a yellow parking validation ticket. THEY DON'T VALIDATE THE YELLOW ONES, ONLY THE WHITE ONES. We ended up paying $15 for parking. It was for a full day of fishing.... we left at 7am and came back at 5pm. The round trip boat ride to and from Catalina was about 5-5.5hours. So we fished for roughly fished for 4-5hours.
