How was your experience?
I think the actors probably did a good job with the material they had. If they were not naturally born Irish, then they surely captured the accent. I could puzzle out only about one word in five. Seriously. It might as well have been in Chinese (which I also don't speak). I had little idea what was going on, and most of what I did understand was gleaned from a Times review I read before I went. There was a glossary of words and places in the program but, frankly, I never heard them use any of them. The stage props were minimalist and would have been fine if there were engrossing dialog, but rather boring to stare at for an hour and a half (or was it seven hours?). Thank goodness for the bar and the cheap cup of wine I sipped during the performance or I might not have gotten through it.
