How was your experience?
I go to see local theatre a lot, and often don't know anyone involved in the productions. This usually puts me in the minority and allows me to be more objective than most. But it's a crapshoot, and some shows put the "crap" in crapshoot and this was one of them. It started off poorly when the owner of the theatre came out at showtime to announce that the playwright was coming to the show but "was caught in Hollywood Bowl traffic" and so we were going to just sit there and wait for him to show up. Amazingly unprofessional and rude. The 8:00 show started at 8:30. DEAD PUSSY is an awful play. The kind that Dan Aykroyd discussed in his "Bad Theatre" bits on SNL back in the day. Of course, if you like shows in which you don't know for 15 minutes whether it's a comedy or not, with over-the-top acting and a campy cat costume (part of which fell off), then maybe you would have enjoyed it. Things then proceeded to get worse as the audience was informed we would have to leave the theatre for 15 minutes while they changed the set. Since the lobby is the size of a phone booth, this meant literally standing out on the street. At this point I wrote off the evening into "90 minutes I would never get back" and went home. Never saw THE BONEYARD. Won't ever go back to the theatre.
