How was your experience?
Unfortunately, this event did not even begin to approach the level of expectation generated by the expensive ticket. The staff at the Wiltern were sweet and accommodating, but ill-prepared for the volume of people attending the show. As others have mentioned, entire rows were forced to stand in the middle of the numbers to accommodate late seating, which completely, repeatedly blocked the view of the stage. Fortunately, we weren't missing much. There was no live orchestra - the music was flat and anti-climactic, blaring out from large black speakers hovering over the stage. The set design and costuming were one-dimensional and unimpressive. Even the dancing was sadly subpar, with the exception of the principle dancer. It seemed as though the choreographer was trying to distract us from how bad the numbers actually were by parading a series of giant, dancing animal "puppets" across the stage during the majority of the second act. Sad. Just...sad.
