How was your experience?

Clear I hated it I didn't like it It was OK I liked it I loved it!
You won't hear this performance so what is useful? Let's see. 1)These were perhaps the most intellectual program notes ever read. You can tell this is university work. A scholar conductor. 2) This orchestra has an honest interest in not being a museum. This is the place to hear the 21st C before its over. 3)John Cage does not get better with repeated listening. He has integrity and has inspired but much of his own work lessens when the novelty is gone. 4)Mandeville Auditorium is a candidate for the ugliest least convenient in the nation. It certainly is as bad looking a hall as you will find in SoCal outside a gymnasium. Not an once of class except that its on a nice campus. It's so ugly it might have homely charm. 5)Goldstar delivered good seats. 6)There was an unannounced lecture before the concert. This appears to be the rule. Given the intellectual quality it should prove worthwhile. Wish I knew. Net is I would not have any problem either listening to modern or classics with this ensemble.
