How was your experience?
Usually I can depend on the Goldstar reviews. However, there weren't a lot of reviews posted yet on the show, and the few written were all positive. Those reviewers must be really easy to please or friends of the cast 'cause I've never been so underwhelmed by a show. From the very opening song, I thought "hope it gets better than this," which it did, but not by much. A third of the way through the show I was counting how many numbers remained and just wanted it to end. Foodies addressed many of the things that are humorous about "foodies" and dining out. However, those things could've been summed up in one line vs. those aspects each being turned into a whole song. Foodies is not a musical in the sense of storyline with beginning and end with a lot of memorable songs in between. Instead, it's about 20 short unrelated food/dining scenarios pushed over the top and all put to song - none memorable. As stated earlier, there were 2-3 particularly witty jabs at foodies. The cast featured nice acting and some very nice singing voices. The accompanying pianist - delightful. However, overall, I can't say I'd recommend this show to anyone. To be honest, I'd be too embarrassed to even give someone free tickets to this show.
