How was your experience?
My gal and I went purely for Christian McBride, only knowing a couple others tangentially. It was a pretty good set - didn't blow me away, didn't disappoint me - we were way back in Benaroya so it wasn't as great as seeing a band at, say, Jazz Alley. They were personable, though the vocalist talked too much. They took turns leading - piano trio for one number, the horns front and center on another, and it started with a fun duo with Christian on bass and the vocalist singing about him as "my mother's son-in-law." I was most intrigued by pianist Benny Green, who looks like a weird kid prodigy but apparently is turning 50 this year. He played hard, flirted with the vocalist, and claps like a seal.
