How was your experience?
This is a terrific ballet for newcomers. The story is familiar, the music contemporary, the staging is fascinating and creative, costumes interesting, characters range from expected to great surprise, and the dancers very fine. If you don't like story ballets (as my husband), the other aspects of the staging make it an interesting evening. If you do like them, be prepared for a far more action-filled ballet than the usual 'white ballets'...the whole story is a dream-sequence...not like Giselle! I'm not sure I'd want to see it again...I thoroughly enjoyed but, because the story is 'episodic' (their words), there is less pure dance than I like. Even 'Don Quixote' has more dance...so don't look for lots of swans pirouetting around the stage!
