How was your experience?
Oh my. Maybe my expectations were too high. This is a very talented cast, but there was no sense of angst, no passion. When the show started, the actor on stage took a picture of herself on a cell phone. I figured this was signalling an update of the old story -- and I could roll with that. But then it was clear that wasn't the case -- my companion later said that he thought she was really just taking a pic of herself! Either way, odd. Also, I was surprised that the Moritz character wasn't more awkward, as in other productions, where the character steals the show, by being disheveled and having a wacky haircut. Again, talented actor, but this role is juicy -- a chance to shine. I should have realized the production was flawed before it even started. Due to a lighting problem, we weren't seated until after 8 pm. All in all, not worth the trouble or time.
