How was your experience?
As a native born New Yorker, I thought I would take a walking tour to places I passed many times but never really stopped to explore what's before my very eyes. To my surprise, I discovered things I never noticed before. Look down, bronze plaques lined Library Row citing notable quotes from literature, science, philosophy, poetry, history and more. Imagine, just beneath my very feet on my way to the 5th Avenue Library. Look up, at Grand Central Terminal, you will see a black marker denoting how polluted the ceiling was and marvel over the beautiful restoration. Learn the secrets, mysteries, intrigues and history of the development and almost the demise and then back again to grandeur of Grand Central Terminal. I can go on and on, but I won't because I don't want to kill the surprise. I will tell you it was very informative and a lot of fun. On yesterday's City Rover Walking Tour in the cold exploring Midtown Manhattan, we met a very friendly family from Finland. As we all walked together we laughed, looked up, down, all around and pondered on the wonders of history, culture and the unique American story about the development of one the greatest cities in the world. This is a tour that you must take. It will open your mind, and you will look at our city in another light. Vincent J. Tomeo
