How was your experience?
"Company" is a smart, sleek, sophisticated show that is mostly well served by the cast in the current Signature Theater production. With a score of songs, most instantly memorable but surely difficult to perform, the actors acquit themselves admirably. Particular credit to Erin Weaver who brings Amy to life brilliantly. The musicians do a very nice job with Tunick's orchestrations. To me, the weakest link was Matthew Scott's Bobby. He has a nice enough voice but his midrange verges on grating. Still, it's hard not to compare any Bobby to Raul Esparza's Broadway portrayal and anyone will come up short by such a standard. If you've never seen "Company" make it a point to do so. If you have, you'll be pleased to be reminded of how great a theater piece it truly is.
