How was your experience?
I went on a Saturday night with my two daughters (ages 20 & 17) & my older daughter's friend (male). JJ died while I was in college, and I was always sorry that I had never seen her in concert. The show was amazing!!! The actress/singer who played Janis was perfection, & the singers who depicted artists who had influenced Janis (e.g., Odetta, Etta James, Bessie Smith, Aretha) were also stellar. The "young folks" loved it, too. For this concert/show, people came dressed much more casually than usual for Arena (shorts, jeans) & the audience was very vocal & active (clapping, yelling, etc.). In fact, I got the feeling that the performers expected even more feedback! It was a perfect birthday experience for someone old enough to have seen Janis when she was alive---and also a great introduction to those of a much-younger generation.
