How was your experience?
This is the 7th or 8th time I've seen Arcadia. I remember seeing A.C.T.'s first performance back in 1995. It's my favorite Tom Stoppard play (well, sort of tied with Rock N Roll...). The performances and staging in this new run at A.C.T. are excellent! The cast is excellent - in my view the strongest performances are by the actresses playing Thomasina and Hannah. Each time I have seen this play I get a new insight into the language and into its themes. This time more than ever I responded to the theme of loss, as my mother recently passed. away. And since I am 18 years older than when I first saw it at A.C.T., the theme of the passing of time was also more resonant: "We shed as we pick up, like travelers who must carry everything in their arms, and what we let fall will be picked up by those left behind." If you've never seen this play, I highly recommend it, both for the quality of the performances and even more for the quality of the language and themes. If you've seen it, see it again.
