How was your experience?
There were moments I enjoyed, there were moments I shook my head at, but the gripping emotion of what is presented left me with many thoughts. If you can read about the history of the Black Watch before seeing the show, it would be helpful. There are a lot of 4-letter words being thrown about, yet it fits within the story as a group of Scottish soldiers talk about their experiences in Iraq. I can't say I enjoyed it, but I am glad I saw it. The cast is excellent and the stamina they must have for a 2 hour intermissionless show is amazing. There are a few slang words that were used in context of where the characters are from (Scotland), but it doesn't take away from what is being presented. If you're curious to see a show currently touring the U.S. and has already visited other countries, I'd go. As for The Armory, the set-up is smaller than I thought and the seats are in stadium style. Definitely bring a cushion as the little cushion on the seats doesn't help. If you get cold easily, bring a jacket. If you want to feel as if you are in the show, sit closer to the stage. There are loud sound effects, so the farther back you sit, you won't have to wear earplugs. Otherwise, this is a nice and intimate space to present a very moving topic.
