How was your experience?
Having missed Ms. Norman in her salad days I was interested in seeing her sing from the American songbook. I admit at first it seemed I might want to leave at the intermission as it seemed that time had taken its toll and conveying the necessary phrasing on some of the great songs such as "A Sleepin" Bee" were not possible in the huge space between her and me in the second tier. There was less of a problem with a number like "Climb Every Mountain". I don't know when I first thought I saw a microphone in her hand but my impression ichanged after that so I stayed for the entire program and was so glad that I had. Her rendition of "Another Man Done Gone" was worth the price of admission alone. It was an incredible experience for me as I did not know the song at all but I will never forget her singing it and the accompaniment of Mark Markham.
