Friday June 14, 2013 / 7:30pmDogg's Hamlet, Cahoot's Macbeth
How was your experience?
After a bit of misdirection - google maps put the location as near the SIFF venue instead of at the Armory (formerly Center House) we did get to see these shows. Actually, I should say 'show', since (IMO) the first one only comes into focus when it injects itself into the second. The new language, Dogg, that 'you don't learn - you catch' was not all that interesting from a language point of view. A better example is David Ives' "The Universal Language", performed by Stone Soup Theater last year. That being said, Cahoot's Hamlet could have become too dark (in fact, seemed determined to do just that) but Dogg managed to 'have his day' as the change in language to Dogg lightened the tension and nicely completed the arc of both stories. Glad I went, but it was not my favorite show of the season.
