How was your experience?
I had no idea what to expect. A one man show? Had I paid to watch an actor read a book? I was drawn in by the simple stage production. So much was done with images projected on 3 simple sails. The sails made if feel as if we were moving, and the images on them slowed us down, in different locations, for the perfect effect. But none of this could overcome an actor's soliloquy. And I mean that in a good way. Brian Finney was absolutely mesmerizing as he took me through this story, his emotions running the gamut, his face a canvas with which he became virtually unrecognizable at times as he lost himself in that jungle, and his voice played my heart like the jungle drums that played in the background. This play should run forever, but I am absolutely sure Brian Finney will not only be unavailable to continue it, but also America's next best character actor.
