How was your experience?
The show is worth seeing as a work in progress. The cast is quite good, we all know and love the story. The show needs about 18 weeks of an intense old-style pre-broadway tour. The kind where throughout the run songs get discarded / added, characters get re-focused, changes are made to the choreography, etc. The shows biggest problem is that the score is absolutely generic and one-dimensional. There is very little variation in style / song type. (Everything sounds similar). A musical that partially has its roots in cinematic romanticism should use this fact as a musical guide post for some of its musical numbers -- the torch song, the comedy number, the romantic duet. the production number; I wish Sleepless in Seattle all the best on its trek to the Great White Way. It's one-million times better thant Flashdance, the Musical.
