How was your experience?
I think the show was very good. Rarely performed, JB... is passionate and devastating and silly, and the cast has to be first-rate and totally committed to every line of music. We thought that each cast member owned each of these songs. 3 kind notes: 1) movement should look more natural, more motivated than it did the night we were there; little should get in the way of the actors' ability to be in the moment, and 2) the video projections on the back wall felt unnecessary; the performers are perfectly capable of communicating the power of the imagery without them. 3) Isn't Carousel meant to be at least half-nightmare? I get the decision to lighten it up-- I do--but it might have weakened the power of the show as the penultimate song. But this was a total win overall. I'm definitely taking friends to see it a second time! Go! Go! Go!
