How was your experience?
Absolutely Wonderful! Five Star Review! The Venue: Very nice! The waiting area was very comfortable and charming! The theater is intimate - but the smaller stage really pulls you in to the performance. The theater was a little warm, but not uncomfortable - I think that was due to the sell-out crowd. The staff was extremely accommodating - I needed an aisle seat due to a disability, and they handled that request perfectly. They had an excellent assortment of reasonably priced concessions, in fact they had a big pitcher of home-made Sangria available (very tasty and refreshing). The Show: What an amazing show and cast! I am a huge Mel Brooks/Young Frankenstein fan – so of course I was mouthing the words to my favorite lines. I went with my husband, daughter and son-in-law (we are all theater geeks), and by the end of the show we were all bubbling over with excitement! One thing I would recommend to theater goers, this is not a show for children (perhaps older teens and up) – but a great show for adults! The Cast: The entire cast seemed to have excellent comedic timing! All of the actors in the ensemble were truly gifted! The primary roles were perfectly executed. The music was wonderfully performed! We were seated towards the back of the theater, but could hear and see everything perfectly – excellent vocal projection! My personal character/actor favorites were Frau Blucher, Igor, and Inga – but all were excellent! My favorite scene was “Putting on the Ritz”! If you are reading this, I certainly hope that you get a chance to see “Young Frankenstein” at Onstage Atlanta – note they have recently moved to a new location in Decatur off of E. Ponce De Leon (just down from Kudzu Antiques and the Dekalb Farmers Market). Blessings, Lorrie Harris (official theater geek)
