TRIBES was well-acted and thought provoking. While on the surface the play deals with cultural differences/misunderstandings between the deaf and hearing ("speaking") worlds, there is so much more going on dealing with communication, miscommunication, the things said vs. things unsaid, music as language, speaking vs. listening, and even the disability of hearing "too much" (auditory hallucinations). No communication in the play is ever pure, with each character trying desperately to be understood by others, yet talking or signing past them. All have unmet needs and desires, and ultimately the play is about imposing those needs on others and going unfulfilled. Marvelously performed, highly recommended.
