Assigned Seating in Bleacher Sections 202-211
How was your experience?
While it was a treat to see the symphony al fresco, it was also a bit distracting. The sound of sirens and motorcycles on the Embarcadero and sea birds whooping somewhat detracted from the music. Also, the acoustics are not exactly excellent at this temporary venue. Not to mention, the line to get in was extremely long and the entire operation seemed confused and disorganized. Once we got our seats, they were uncomfortable bleacher seats that seemed much smaller than those at a typical stadium - we were packed in quite tightly. On the other hand, the "hamster" effect had an up side, as the weather was bitter cold and the people in front of us somewhat blocked the freezing wind. We wore winter coats, scarves, hats and gloves, and brought a blanket, too. Also, a lot of people near us returned from the bathroom or concession stand very late from intermission; the crowds down there looked overwhelming. However, the brilliant ending of the 1812 Overture made it all worth it.
