How was your experience?
This was a good deal. It was slightly overcast on the day we went and that was perfect since we were able to sit up on the top deck and not get sunburned. We especially enjoyed the first hour which covered the North Bay. We had already visited many of the spots pointed out on the tour so this was a good way to tie everything together and also identify some buildings that we had wondered about that were not accessible to the public. It was also interesting to see everything from the water perspective and to get up close to the sea lions which were lounging on the rafts and buoys in the bay. I would suggest sitting on the benches on the starboard side (near the middle) so that you can hear the narration clearly. We sat right at the stern and had a hard time hearing at times over the voices of kids nearby. If you sit at the bow end, remember to cover your ears when they blow the whistle because it's really loud. Bring a bottle of water or $2-3 for a beverage from the snack bar because you will get thirsty before the tour is up. The second hour (the South Bay tour) would have been more interesting if I had known a bit more about military ships. It was basically a run down the coast starting with the USS Midway and ending just south of the Coronado bridge.
