How was your experience?
The cast, lighting, costuming, strong vocals and instrumentals, blocking, etc., were all very impressive. I was especially struck by the inventiveness and creativity of the production, i.e., the play-within-a play, lighting tricks such as the razor box being lit from within, using lighting for blood splatters, Mrs. Lovett as the real protagonist (Sweeney's "naive" remark took on greater meaning) and other attention to detail. Joanna using a razor rather than a gun made so much sense. Thank you for opening up the usual cuts (Judge's "Joanna", intro to Pirelli's aria). Also. the choral parts were so clear, so well articulated and so finely tuned, it was another revelation. This was the darkest, most disturbing production of "Sweeney" I have seen. Thank you for restoring the SHOCK to this amazing work. Charles Tittsworth
