How was your experience?
An enjoyable, updated take on a show written in 1966, but originally set even earlier (1890-1940). Keeping in mind the era for which it was written, certain anachronisms or marriage clichés that emerge in the play are more understandable. And yet, the modern update with a mixture of same and opposite-sex couples worked well with minimal changes to the script and incited some poignant and fresh moments of reflection. The cast of four worked well together and were convincing throughout the switch-offs between couples (which were done very well and seamlessly) and as they aged throughout the play. With scenes that made me both laugh and cringe (sometimes at the same moment) as well as ponder my own marriage, I came away very satisfied.
