How was your experience?
I loved it! I stayed for the talk-back afterwards. Some audience members complained about the Irish "accents." I had no problem. I understood it all. Maybe because I've studied acting for years. But no, these players did a superb job of projecting the lyrical language. You don't want this play without the dialect. The lyricism helps you stomach the macabre. McDonagh's signature is violence. You know it's going to happen. So relax and enjoy it. I was rooting for that daughter all the way. I wanted the violence to happen. Maybe there's something wrong with me. But hey, this is the beauty of theatre. It's catharsis. You don't have to act it out in real life.
