How was your experience?
The Wizard of ODD Well, for an ALW show it was dreadful. Full of cheap looking sets and customs. No, wow, special effects to cheer - nada. The music he added seemed to be the melody in every new song but with new lyrics each time. This was a typical kids show, and not one for "kids of ages at heart". I couldn't wait for it to be over. I'm sure the London production was much more lavish. What was missing was not a comparison to Judy Garland but ALL the other characters. They seemed flat and un engage, just common. ALW threw in some number right out of the Producers - "Springtime For Hitler" for the "winkies" it was a little S&M, a little B&D and was as frightening as a wet paper bag. Macho men doing arabesques and spinning out turns - just plan stupid and dumb. Save your money and see the newly restored 3-D film version - that's a classic at it's finest.
