How was your experience?
First time going to a Star Trek Convention so wasn't sure what all to expect other than what I have heard and seen on tv. In reading some of the reviews from 2011 I had a feeling it may be smaller than other conventions, but didn't think it would be that small. However, I still had a good time. There was two areas(lobby and one room) that had tables of memorabilia, etc. One table where they had the stars from Star Trek sitting for autographs/photo ops that you had to pay for. Which I guess if you can afford and can't live without getting their autograph or picture taken with them is worth it. But I was unable to do so, and don't think I would have paid to get someone's autograph/picture. I did contemplate on getting a picture with Lee Meriwether however, but just couldn't afford the $60.00. The highlights for me were the Costume contest and seeing Shatner talk on stage in the main theater. First time seeing him live, and it was a hoot. He is the man! There were a lot of people there, about half in costume which was a delight to see as well. Overall, I would say this was totally worth the price we paid via Goldstar. Especially if its your first time. I would probably go again, but only if it was at a different venue and a little bigger, and also dependent on who is going to be there. The hotel was nice and the event was organized quite well in my opinion, and location was convenient. Thank you Goldstar for offering this! Had you not, I probably would have missed this opportunity to attend!
