How was your experience?
While I saw a preview and am reluctant to review, this production was already taut and exciting despite there being a few slips that will surely be corrected by opening night. Strong cast, including a young girl who holds her own alongside a lot of familiar faces if you've been to NVA shows before. The real standouts are Kristin Woodburn as a blind, brave young wife, and Daren Scott as man full of unctuous menace. A terrific set, which serves for every scene in the play, is ideally suited to the space and the production. The music, while atmospheric and moody, was a bit of a distraction and felt too cinematic (as opposed to the lighting, which was handled quite well and is obviously essential to the play). The kind of show that will remind you there's more to our local theater scene than the Globe, Playhouse, and Rep.
