How was your experience?
The play is a great idea, and there were some very creative moments, but overall I was disappointed by a lackluster production honoring one of the most creative men to have ever lived. A huge musical theater fan, I was not impressed with any of the songs and was especially irked by the cliche rhyming. A lot of the ides were half-baked, like the hovering presence of the three little pigs and the wolf. The second act really picked up the pace and gave the audience a lot more depth into Walt, his imagination, and his relationship with his brother Roy. Though attempted, that was all missing from act one. I enjoyed the montage of the Studio's early films, and generally the actors and dancers were quite talented. The program said this was a pre-Broadway engagement--I believe there is a lot of work to do before this show has a real chance of success.
