How was your experience?
If you haven't seen the play, don't read the playbill. It reveals the ending! The timelessness of Shakespeare means there are always people who are seeing it for the first time, so why do they spoil it by telling too much? I also did not appreciate the director's choice of audience participation. The breaking of the 4th wall was distracting and thwarted one's immersion in the plot. Further, they eliminated the climax!! While the audience is waiting for the scene of reconciliation and redemption, we were treated to words to the effect of "Shakespeare goes on for days and we don't have time so I'm telling you that they all made up and now we will jump to a final scene." I found it all together irritating and disappointing. The director would have done better to cut the ineffectual and annoying comic relief scenes involving the thief and given that time to resolving the plot. However, the venue is lovely.
