How was your experience?

Clear I hated it I didn't like it It was OK I liked it I loved it!
My seats were in the fifth row. Great, right? Wrong. The problem with them was that they were on the end, and the puppet stage had been designed deep, so much of the action took place down stage and was fully obstructed from all audience members outside 45 degrees from the center. One had to be nearly dead on in front of the stage to see everything. At the intermission, I relocated to a seat in the center section, which was much better (although now I was now 23 rows back). The production was creative and beautiful to see (when I did finally get to see part of it), but WARNING parents - Wagner did not write for children, so don't expect this to be a kids' show. It is a tragedy, wrought with sex (including incest) and violence. Also, although there is some narration in English, it's a German opera, and all of the lyrics are in the drama's native tongue. English-only children may find that a little bit boring. I suggest leaving the little ones at home for this one, and suspending your own disbelief for a while.
