Thursday November 21, 2013 / 8:00pm (Opening Night)Matthew Bourne's Sleeping Beauty
Mezzanine (Rows C-P)
How was your experience?
Mathew Bourne's latest and last trio of Tchaikovsky's famous ballet's does not disappoint. From the costumes to the liberties he takes with the classic story, Bourne's breathes fresh air into a piece reminding us that dance and classical music are to be enjoyed and are not antiques to be preserved like museum pieces. Bourne takes this classic ballet off the shelf, dusted it off and presented in a new light to a new audience who will - thanks to his brilliance - fall in love all over again with Tchaikovsky's genius. The Ahmanson is a great venue and although not the traditional stage for ballets, it served exceptionally well for this story. The parking was convenient but be prepared to have $9 on you (preferably cash) and try to find seating in the Mezzanine level. We went on a Thursday night and traffic from Glendale was not bad. We left 45 minutes before the show and arrived with almost 20 minutes to spare.
