How was your experience?
After spending all of my non-work time this week cleaning my apartment, running in a 5k Turkey Trot, and making a full Thanksgiving dinner and cleaning up after it (much of which was made pleasant by the presence of friends), I went to the first show of "Becky's New Car" at the Lyric Stage tonight only knowing that it was a new romantic comedy, but not knowing what to expect. As Becky explains near the beginning, when a woman wants a new car, that means she really wants a new relationship, and when she wants a new house, she wants a new life. As Becky wanders gradually away from her normal life as a pink collar worker with a blue collar husband and a son in grad school but living at home, who aspires to be a psychologist and analyzes everybody else's actions, that new car becomes pretty tempting. The acting was good, and the fourth wall was broken in several very interesting ways that went beyond the plot. The men come off no worse than the women, and maybe even better, though simpler.
