How was your experience?
It's amazing that little Encinitas can have live theatre of this quality. While I still hold up Intrepid Shakespeare Company's Hamlet as the one to beat, this show was as intense as you would expect Macbeth to be. The pacing was excellent, the action never waned. The company does so much with minimal sets, and the lighting definitely added to the show. Some of the stage combat was a little amateurish, but other parts were riveting. Having the audience on two sides facing each other like a football stadium took a little getting used to....it wasn't quite the intimacy of theatre-in-the-round, but did draw the audience into the action more than a standard seating would have done. By all means, go see this show. Support live theatre, especially when it is of this caliber.
